We are a community focused upcycling and reuse space. We host workshops, sell products, and have a membership community focused on reimagining waste in Cincinnati.
Precious Plastic Cincy started trying to find a way to address plastic waste through manufacturing solutions. Through experimentation, research, and many collaborations, we concluded that in order to make the most immediate impact, we had to switch to reuse and upcycling, and not recycling as originally intended.
FINDING OUR PEOPLE
Iset Celik was on a similar journey. She is an interdisciplinary designer with a huge interest in sustainability and upcycling. There was instant alignment in some of the previous projects she had worked on and we started collaborating on the new direction of Precious Plastic Cincy.
THE MISSING LINK
The Third Place
For the direction of reuse to really work we had to design a space that would allow for a practical example of circular economy. This couldn't happen in our warehouse or in a silo. We would need a truly collaborative space for the future of Precious Plastic Cincy. The Third Place is a place people spend time between home and work. Our version of The Third Place is an upcycling and reuse center where people can create with unrecyclable materials.
We are turning our new direction into an opportunity to re-engage with our community and more impactful and inclusive way.
With reuse, we can create designs that can have a bigger impact on the community because it’s tangible, educational, and way more efficient!
